Welcome To The Valley

New Players

The team fields competitive sides in the spring, summer and fall seasons. Typically, each season has a short preseason and then a 6-8 week schedule of games or tournaments.

Top side players practice twice a week and have a S&C program to follow outside of practices to help improve fitness and injury recovery. We look to develop rugby players of all backgrounds and levels of experience so feel free to contact us if you're interested in joining.

Season Schedule

  • Spring 15's | Mar-Apr

Unless the team is involved in the D2 club playoffs, the spring season is a more laid-back, developmental period. This is a great time to join as a new player as there will be more playing opportunities against D1/D2/D3 opponents.

  • Summer 7's | May-Aug

The summer is when the forwards get out of shape and the backs play 7's. We encourage everyone to come out to practices as this is the perfect time to develop passing and defensive skills. Although the top side squad is only 12 players, we field social sides as availability and numbers allow.

  • Fall 15's | Aug-Nov

Fall is the competitive season in the Midwest so this is our toughest stretch of opponents all year. Our priority is to put the best 15 on the field and develop depth at every position. The fall season is long and injuries create opportunities for new players to get time against the best quality competition in the Midwest.

Team Leadership

Current player with 10+ years playing experience playing from amateur to professional, most recently with the San Diego Legion MLR team. Schade brings high level defense and offense perspective and is always available for questions.

  • Johnny Jackson | S&C Coach

S&C coach and current player with more than 10 years experience coaching athletes on improving performance and conditioning. Provides an extensive set of programming for each phase in the season to maximize injury prevention.

  • Nick Bombalicki | Team President & GM

Current player and the man behind the scenes, organizing day-to-day team operations and managing the team leadership group.

  • Tom Rooney | ODB

Former player and perennial figure in the midwest rugby community. Can usually be spotted on the OSU rugby sidelines or at a bar down the street. Rooney has been a valuable team advisor, donor and occasional coach for many years.
